Eyjafjallajokull volcano monitoring latest news:  Eruption stopped, now just a plume of steam, with no ash. Scientists say the level of seismic activity is decreasing and is near that recorded before the eruption began last month with the lava flow stopping completely.

Eyjafjallajoekull – Volcano Ash – monitoring stopped on Monday May 24, 2010

Too early to say it’s all over

The last time the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano erupted, was in 1821, and it carried on and off for almost two years so it’s quite likely that this stopping could be merely the end of an episode rather than the whole story being over.

The volcanic ash cloud has hit airlines’ profits hard, but also brought a booking bonanza for rail, eurostar and ferry companies.
